Cardiff Athletic Bowls Club was formed in 1923.
It is a Section of Cardiff Athletic Club.

The Athletic Club incorporates the Rugby Section (Cardiff Rugby Football Club now run by Cardiff Rugby Football Club Plc. with Cardiff Athletic Club as its major shareholder), the Cricket Section, the Hockey Section and the Tennis Section.

Each Section is represented on the Management Committee of the club.

The Bowls Section is represented on the Management Committee by Bob Williams, Malcolm Gilmore and Phillip Parsons.

The current Athletic Club President is the Welsh International rugby legend Bleddyn Williams.

The Club has produced two Welsh International Bowlers. The first Mr. C Standfast in 1937 followed by Mr. B Hawkins who played in 1970 and 71 then 1981 to 1986.
Mr. Hawkins represented Wales in the 1982 World Pairs and captained his country
in 1982 and 1984.

In 1967 the Club were the Welsh Private Greens Bowling Association 1 Division 2 Champions , Welsh Private Greens Bowling Association 1 Division 1 Champions in 1970 and Welsh Private Greens Bowling Association 2 Division 3 Champions in 2005.

In 1985 a Club Rink were British Isles Champions and consisted of M. C. Gilmore,
